IR Receiver Quantity Recommendation

Receiver Quantity Recommendations

There is no exiting legislation that dictates the number of receivers prescribed by the capacity of a venue in the United Kingdom. The Equality Act 2010 only stipulates that reasonable adjustments be made and provision of auxiliary aids and services.

The receiver quantity recommendations below are informed by the precedent set by the 'American's with Disabilities Act 1990', but adjusted downward in many cases to reflect the practicalities of the available charging and storage solutions.

A Neck Loop has been included for each receiver, as the UK has a far higher demographic of hearing aid users than America. Neck Loops make the system more accessible and more likely to be used due to the advantages of allowing users to benefit from aids tailored to their own hearing loss. Users who do not have telecoil enabled hearing aids can use the Neck Loop as a lanyard.

Headphones are generally set at half the quantity of receivers required as users who wish to use headphones will have often brought their own set due to their perception of how sanitary the loaned product will be.
